Salvador Castillo -  Constructor

"I am still very very happy with the Castillo guitar and I play this guitar every day.

It is a joy to play and that is the most imported thing I like about this guitar.

I do not play my other guitars anymore and my partner advises me to sell them.

I think the Castillo is the best guitar I have ever played."

Salvador Castiilo was born in Paracho Michoacan Mexico in February of 1969, son of the constructor of Ramiro Castillo Barajas and Elvira Garcia Barajas.

He grew up constructing guitars accompanied by his father and started playing guitar at 8 years old. He mastered his trade in Paracho and later went to college (not completed) to study Agricultural engineering at the Faculty of Agriculture in the City of Uruapan, Michoacan. At the age of 20 he decided to remain a Luthier. With the support of his father he became independent and began to experiment with his own guitar designs.

In the year of 2000 he took a course of guitar construction with the master luthier Abel García and made a replica of Hauser Guitar from 1927. In 2001 he participates in an annual competition for guitar constructors in Paracho and wins 1st place in the student guitar division and 2nd place in the concert guitar division.

He later studied classical music in the Casa de la Cultura de Paracho for two years under the tutelage of Wenceslao Huendo and forms a guitar duet performing popular music form the Michoacan region.

During these years Salvador made many replicas of famous Spanish classical and flamenco guitars and eventually found his own style of construction.  At the present he is constructing only his own guitar models and remains a serious student of flamenco guitar playing. His guitars are known for their distinct sound and have been sold to many professionals and aficionados all over the world.
